Quality Education for Every Student
Dear Friends,
I am honored to have been elected to the District 9 seat on the Kansas State Board of Education. I ran for this position four years ago because I wanted to play a role in continuing the tradition of quality education for all students in Kansas.
The challenges we face today are much different than those of four years ago. We are in the midst of a financial crisis unlike any in recent memory, yet demands on our schools continue to increase. Schools are required to improve student achievement and to turn out a well educated workforce. Yet, their funding is shrinking. Our economic recovery and the survival of our Kansas cities and towns require strong schools that will prepare students to be productive adults.
It is critical that we make sound policy decisions as we address these educational issues. My 27 years as a teacher and curriculum director provide me with the practical experience to help me understand these important issues. I want to continue to be a voice for strong Kansas public schools. I hope I can count on your support in the November election.
